Lots of new friends August 19, 2011 Posted by Mookie
If you look at yesterday's news post you'll notice that I had to take down the public posting of my summoner name for League of Legends. I was expecting only a handful of people to take me up on the referral offer and friends listing... but within a day I've gotten over 250 friends and over 100 referrals! I tried to answer everyone's messages, get games in, and not seem like I was ignoring anyone, but despite my best intentions it was getting to be too much to keep up with. So, for now, I'll keep my summoner name to myself.

Feel free to try League of Legends and tell them Mookie sent you! I may be keeping my summoner name to myself, but I'm still a referral rewards whore.

I've got some wedding-related stuff to deal with this weekend, so wish me luck!

That's all from me for now.
Rock on and have a nice weekend!
I'm in a league of my own. August 18, 2011 Posted by Mookie
Today's news post has nothing to do with today's comic. It has to do with a new video game I've begun playing.

League of Legends.

I'm bad at strategy-type RPGs, and I'm pretty bad at this one, but it's strangely addictive and fun. Most of that comes from the personality of the "champions" you control. I spent more time than I care to admit just browsing the list of characters. I've been playing as Rammus the Armordillo and everything from his gruff voice to his waddle/walk has me totally sold on him. I'm waiting for my opportunity to play Mordekaiser, if for no other reason than all his special abilities are named after metal songs.

The fact that it's totally free to play is a bonus, too.

So if you play League of Legends already, feel free to add me to your friends list! My summoner name is "(I've been swamped with friend requests!)" and, if you can tolerate my inept ass, maybe we'll fight together! If you want to try the game for yourself, you can tell them Mookie sent you! (That's a link that signs you up to play via a referral from my account. I'm a referral rewards whore.)

That's all from me for now.
Rock on and geek out!
The elegant truth. August 17, 2011 Posted by Mookie
Today's comic features two things Dominic hasn't done in quite a while.

In the first panel, Dominic breaks out some of his dance training. All the Deegan brothers have a little bit of bard in them, after all.

The second is Dominic's old "see the truth" spell. This one hasn't shown up in quite a while, but it's significant when Dominic unleashes it. I think that's why it's been used so rarely. If it was just being thrown around all the time it'd lose its dramatic effectiveness. And it'd get old really fast.

That's all from me for now.

In his own mind, he's the best. August 16, 2011 Posted by Mookie
And so Dominic continues his psychoplanar transformations. If these keep up I could start an action figure line. Champion of Balance Dominic! Mighty Dominic! Black Magic Dominic! Destroyer Mask Dominic! And introducing new Swordsman Dominic!

It is almost impossible (for me) to come up with a sword design for something an oracle would wield without it looking like the freaking Sword of Omens. The hilt is the only place a crystal ball looks good, and once you put it there... you get something that looks like the Sword of Omens. Oh well.

Don't forget that the summer sale continues in the SEER'S CATALOG until the end of August!

That's all from me for now.

AAAAAH! Lots of news! August 15, 2011 Posted by Mookie
Lots of news to report today!

First of all, the Fan Art pages have finally been updated! New material includes a number of pieces I thought I'd lost when I switched computers a few months ago and the submissions that were sent to me for Fan Art Week at the beginning of this month. Go and take a look-see at all the new artwork!

For those of you who missed the announcement on Friday, I've reopened the SEER'S CATALOG and, due to the success of last month's impromptu summer sale, I've extended the sale for the rest of the summer! Pay no shipping on all book orders till the end of August!

Check the schedule to the right to see some new Conventions I'll be attending! I'm excited to be a part of some new shows this year and to be returning to some favorites as well!

That's all from me for now.

Update, reopening, and a sale. August 12, 2011 Posted by Mookie
The Seer's Catalog has reopened! And because of the success of the impromptu summer sale last month, I've decided to extend it for the rest of the summer!

Pay no shipping (international orders pay reduced shipping) on all book orders from now until the end of August!

The Archive has also been updated. Every so often I forget to keep this vital page up-to-date, but that problem has been solved. At least until I forget to update it again and it gets difficult to navigate from story to story.

The Fan Art pages will be updated on Monday, including the submissions that were not showcased for Fan Art Week and a number of pieces that I thought I'd lost when I switched computers. So check back on Monday for some awesome art!

That's all from me for now.
Rock on, and have a great weekend!
Delayed reaction. August 11, 2011 Posted by Mookie
I meant to have the Fan Art pages updated for today and the Seer's Catalog reopened, but Alyssa and I had to run a number of wedding-related errands yesterday, which in turn delayed working on today's comic, which in turn further delayed those updates.

Those pages should be up tomorrow, and Monday at the very latest.

That's all from me for now.
Rock on!
Change is good? August 10, 2011 Posted by Mookie
If anyone reading this is near or has been affected by the senseless riots in England, please stay safe and know that our hearts are with you.

I haven't bought a new comic book in weeks. I miss going to the comic shop around the corner and scanning the shelves to see "what happens next," but lately I haven't cared to see what happens next in most of the titles I'd been reading (with the exception of ATOMIC ROBO).

But since I miss it so much, and I try to never judge a book by it's cover, I think I'm going to give the already notorious "DC Reboot" a try next month, where fifty-two classic characters are given an almost complete reset. I was nerd-raging over the initial announcement at first, but I think I'll follow Celesto's advice in today's comic and welcome change.

Granted, Celesto is an unbalanced chaos oracle who's currently trying to kill a kid, but I need some new comic books to read!

That's all from me for now.

Skewered seer. August 9, 2011 Posted by Mookie
I've had to exert a significant amount of willpower to resist putting a couple of pop culture references in this current storyline, namely a quote from Thundercats in regards to all the sword-scrying ("Sword of Omens! Give me sight beyond sight!") and a famous line from Airplane! in regards to Dominic's lack of clothing in his mental projection ("You ever seen a grown man naked?").

But that's not going to happen! At least I hope not. The temptation has been great.

That's all from me for now.

New email and the newspaper! August 8, 2011 Posted by Mookie
And we're back!

I hope everyone enjoyed Fan Art Week while I was gone! I received dozens of amazing submissions and choosing only five to showcase was as tough as ever. Thanks to all who sent me your work. You humble me with your continued love, support and talent. All submissions will be going up in the Fan Art pages later this week!

There is now a NEW EMAIL ADDRESS to reach me at! I wanted it to be "seemail" but, unsurprisingly, that wasn't available. So while this new address isn't the most clever of names, I still like it.

The Seer's Catalog will also be re-opening later this week.

Finally, I was interviewed for an article in the Boston Globe on webcomickers in the New England area! The article ran while I was on vacation last week so I'm a little late in getting the news out on this, but you can still read the whole story online. I'm mentioned alongside some fantastic creators, so check it out!

That's all from me for now.

FAN ART WEEK! August 1, 2011 Posted by Mookie
It's Fan Art Week!

Five pieces of fan art will be showcased this week in place of comics, since I'm on my annual summer vacation with Alyssa.

You guys made it difficult to choose only five pieces this year. I received dozens of excellent submissions and I found myself stressing over which ones to put on the front page.

Any and all submissions that were not chosen for Fan Art Week will be shown at the Fan Art pages, which will be updated next week!

I'm going to enjoy my vacation, and I hope you all enjoy Fan Art Week! See you when I get back!

Rock on.
The butler did it. July 29, 2011 Posted by Mookie
Szark's trash-talk somehow ends up sounding like he's talking dirty, though I suspect he's doing it on purpose.

Today is the last day to send in your submissions for Fan Art Week! I don't leave for my vacation till the weekend, so you have all day to submit artwork if you need it.

Today is also the last day of the impromptu summer no-shipping sale in the SEER'S CATALOG!

That's all from me for now.
Rock on, have a nice weekend, and enjoy next week's Fan Art Week!
Showing restraint. July 27, 2011 Posted by Mookie
It looks like Szark is going to have one of those rare moments where you get to do the right thing and get back at someone who's been tormenting you. At least, I hope he's going to do the right thing...

This Friday is the deadline for submissions for Fan Art Week, which will showcase five pieces while I'm on vacation during the first week of August.

For the remainder of this week, pay no shipping in the SEER'S CATALOG on book orders! It's a "summer convention sale" since I won't be at Otakon this weekend!

I told you I was going to repeat myself.

That's all from me for now.
Rock on.
This week, in summary. July 26, 2011 Posted by Mookie
Dominic's "portrayal" of a Destroyer seems to be much more convincing this time, doesn't it?

This Friday is the deadline for submissions for Fan Art Week, which will showcase five pieces while I'm on vacation during the first week of August.

For the remainder of this week, pay no shipping in the SEER'S CATALOG on book orders! It's a "summer convention sale" since I won't be at Otakon this weekend!

And thus concludes our news for the week summary. I'll likely repeat myself again tomorrow.

That's all from me for now.

On the tragedy in Norway, conventions and vacations. July 25, 2011 Posted by Mookie
First of all, I want to extend my condolences and love to anyone and everyone affected by the terrible tragedy in Norway. It was a senseless act of violence, hate and intolerance that cut many innocent lives short. Our hearts go out to you.

This Friday is the deadline to submit fan art for next week's Fan Art Week. I'll be selecting five pieces to be featured on the front page while I'm on vacation next week, so be sure to get yours in by Friday for a chance to be showcased! Art relevant to this storyline and/or the characters involved is preferred but not necessary.

For the first time in many years I won't be at Otakon this weekend. But those of you who usually wait to purchase books from me at that convention needn't worry, because I've reduced the prices of all book collections in the SEER'S CATALOG as though I were there! For this week only, pay no shipping on book orders (international orders pay reduced shipping)!

That's all from me for now.
Rock on.
