The big show. June 6, 2011 Posted by Mookie
The big news is that I'll be returning to AKON this weekend! This convention is a monster and I'm always happy to return to its monstrous embrace. Every year is memorable and I'm certain that this weekend will be no different. So be sure to stop by and say "hi" if you're in the area. I'm sure I'll be in a tremendous mood.

There will likely be crummy filler up in place of a comic next Monday, as I'll be recovering from the monster weekend that is AKON.

I'll have more information during the course of this week, as in where in the Artist Alley to find me and which panels I'll be doing!

That's all from me for now.
Rock on.
He may not be the most stable source of information. June 3, 2011 Posted by Mookie
I confess that I fell a little behind in sending out book orders that weren't TWO THIEF OR NOT TWO THIEF pre-orders during the month of May, but all those orders are now out and headed to the correct addresses. Sorry for the delay, everyone.

All pre-orders will be assembled and out next week before I leave for AKON. The new book may be making its "official debut" at that convention, but folks who generously pre-ordered will have their copies in transit (and in most cases, in their hands) before that mammoth show.

That's all from me for now.
Rock on, and have a nice weekend!
The weather outside is... YIKES! June 2, 2011 Posted by Mookie
The weather was pretty nasty here in Massachusetts yesterday. Tornadoes touched down and we were hit with pretty severe thunderstorms. I was able to get the comic (and this news post) up before any power outages could happen.

Mother Nature has been hitting all of us pretty hard lately, from Missouri to Japan.

Try to stay safe if you can, everyone.

That's all from me for now.

We've all had thoughts like that. Kinda. June 1, 2011 Posted by Mookie
I think all of us nerds have, at some point or another, had a moment like this in our minds... whether or not your moment had angel wings, divine lightning and a broadsword.

Thanks to all of you who pre-ordered TWO THIEF OR NOT TWO THIEF. The books arrived yesterday and they look great. I'm going to wait to put them back on sale until after AKON. Not only does that give me the opportunity to send out all the pre-orders, I get to "officially debut" the book at that convention, as has been a tradition since ECSTASY & EVIL was first printed.

As always, I couldn't do any of this without your continued love and support. You folks make me feel like I have angel wings and a broadsword capable of calling down heavenly lightning. Ka-boom!

That's all from me for now.
Rock on.
He's annoying when he does that, huh? May 31, 2011 Posted by Mookie
Geez, is it the end of May already?

That means today is the last day to pre-order your copy of TWO THIEF OR NOT TWO THIEF and receive a signed sketch of Stunt & Bumper with your order! Afterward the book will just be up for regular order, and the best way to get a sketch of those two from me would be to come see me at a convention... which, I think, is also a nice option.

That's all from me for now.

Splattery sword-scrying. May 30, 2011 Posted by Mookie
I was tempted to follow my cat's advice again, like last year, but I decided against it.

Instead, here's a horrible vision of a student violently expelling the body of an interdimensional horror.

Happy Memorial Day.
Can you hear me now? May 27, 2011 Posted by Mookie
This bit of sword-scrying was fun to lay out.

Tuesday is the last day to pre-order TWO THIEF OR NOT TWO THIEF, so if you want your signed sketch of Stunt & Bumper don't wait to place your order!

Other than that, there's no new news to report. So I'll wish you folks a nice weekend and see you back here on Monday.

That's all from me for now.
Rock on, and have a nice weekend!
SWISH! May 26, 2011 Posted by Mookie
Between Luna & Quilt's "crystal bubbles" and Dominic & Szark's "sword scrying" I'm having a lot of fun drawing these new methods of second sight. I hope you folks are enjoying them, too, because over the course of this quest against the king there's going to be more of it.

I didn't tweet about new comic books yesterday because, well, none of the current books I'm collecting are really striking me. I mean, Deadpool (the one written by Daniel Way) is always entertaining and War of the Green Lanterns has been a good interstellar brawl, but I didn't think anything was really worth getting super excited about. I'm starting to notice that trend with me and superhero comics in general. Maybe it's a sign of things to come? Or maybe it's just a slump in what's currently out there? Time will tell.

That's all from me for now.

How very eighties. May 25, 2011 Posted by Mookie
This is a very "80's underdog moment" in this storyline. I promise, however, that there won't be any training montages, crazy last-minute comebacks to beat the "evil" team, or the whole school coming around and seeing how cool the nerd was all along.

The eighties was a wonderful and horrible time for movies.

Anyway, TWO THIEF OR NOT TWO THIEF is on its way to my headquarters, so if nothing's gone wrong with the printing I should have everyone's pre-orders shipping by the beginning of June! I should also have them for the annual "new book debut" at AKON! Then again, if something has gone wrong with the printing, then you all may be able to hear me screaming from wherever you are on Earth.

That's all from me for now.

Based on a true story. May 24, 2011 Posted by Mookie
The flashback in today's comic is somewhat based on a true story. When we were in college, my best friend took fencing lessons, while I watched The Princess Bride a lot. One day we bought a couple of plastic lightsabers and I challenged him to a duel, thinking my flare for drama would be equal to his valid schooling.

Yeah.

What is based completely on the truth is Dominic's huge glasses, acne and horrible mullet. Those were mine. Getting through my younger years with those was tough, but you know what they say... that which does not kill you makes you nerdier.

That's enough from me for now.

Nine years of showing off (a little). May 23, 2011 Posted by Mookie
Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire turned nine years old over the weekend! I celebrated with a few high quality brews and watching the world not end. It was very nice.

And thanks to all of you who sent me very kind messages and emails regarding the comic's ninth anniversary. You folks make me feel like I'm more metal than I really am. I am, as always, humbled by your continued love and support.

There's still time to pre-order TWO THIEF OR NOT TWO THIEF from the SEER'S CATALOG!

And don't forget the snazzy new t-shirts from SHARK ROBOT!

That's all from me for now.
Rock on.
Happy birthday, seer! May 21, 2011 Posted by Mookie
Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire is nine years old today.

I think that's pretty awesome.

Thanks to all of you who have been along for the ride thus far! It's a real treat knowing I have some of the greatest readers in the world, and I couldn't do this without you.

And so, in celebration of this momentous weekend anniversary, I present you with some crummy filler. Ain't I classy?

That's all from me for now!
Rock on, and have a great weekend!
Cutting edge second sight! May 20, 2011 Posted by Mookie
Nine years ago tomorrow, Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire made its humble debut on the internet. Nine years later, er, tomorrow, Dominic and company are still having adventures and I'm blessed enough to have the greatest readers in the world. I couldn't do this without all of you.

There will be a celebratory piece of "filler" up tomorrow in celebration of this nine-year milestone!

I'm also tickled at the idea that tomorrow is "the end of the world" or whatever, and that's coinciding with Dominic's nine year birthday. But if the world doesn't end on Saturday, I'll see you all at the 2012 doomsday party.

That's all from me for now.
Have an arockalyptic weekend!
Swordington, I presume? May 19, 2011 Posted by Mookie
There was originally going to be a nod to the fabled "Sword of Omens" in today's strip, in regards to Szark's idea of sword scrying, but instead I put a tribute to my pal and archnemesis Brian Clevinger from his 8-Bit Theatre days. See if you can spot it.

For those of you keeping track of this sort of thing, though I may be the only one who is, there's a tiny accomplishment that goes along with today's comic.

This is the 2500th strip of Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire.

I don't know why twenty-five hundred comics feels like a milestone worth announcing. The three thousand mark seems like a much more appropriate announcement, but 2500 just looks like a significant number to me.

Domaggedon?! May 18, 2011 Posted by Mookie
Don't forget that TWO THIEF OR NOT TWO THIEF can still be pre-ordered and there are new t-shirts available through SHARK ROBOT! Hooray for the SEER'S CATALOG!

I thought this was an interesting little news tidbit. Some religious groups around here are convinced that this Saturday, May 21 is Judgment Day. The Rapture. The beginning of The End. Whatever you want to call it. May 21 also happens to be the day Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire reaches its ninth anniversary. Coincidence?

There may be a special update this Saturday to commemorate this apocalyptic anniversary. Keep an eye out... if we're all still alive!

That's all from me for now.
Rock on.
