It wants to touch my brain! April 7, 2011 Posted by Mookie
I think Masutel was living in my head yesterday. The headache I had for most of the day was so splitting that it felt like some alien manta ray creature with claws and pincers was swimming around in my brain meats, slicing a path right behind my eyes. Gah.

I doubt Dominic is going to feel much better when Ara is done with him, much to the contrary of her claims.

Not much other news to report today. Work continues on Two Thief of Not Two Thief: Dominic Deegan Vol. 6 to hopefully be ready to take pre-orders in May, so that's neat. Otherwise... yeah. Slow news day.

That's all from me for now.

Cookie. Monster. April 6, 2011 Posted by Mookie
When he's not speaking for Alduraithel, Archmage of the Fourth Circle, Snert's vocabulary seems to solely consist of the word "cookie." Then again, most people I know can think of little else when they're enjoying a cookie so maybe Snert isn't being so weird.

New comic books hit the shelves today, so keep an eye on my Twitter feed for entries marked #ComicBookDay to see my opinions on what I'm reading as I'm reading it.

Less human than human. April 5, 2011 Posted by Mookie
Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson once said that he was upset with science fiction films and television because all the aliens looked so "human." As though writers and directors with giant budgets failed to look at the extreme diversity of life on Earth to draw inspiration from and instead just added a different skin tone and some longer ears to a humanoid frame to make an "alien."

I hope to make Dr. Tyson proud with the approach I've taken to every creature Miranda deals with on the scale of an archmage. From M'ur'i, to Alduraithel, to (a lesser extent) the silent hermit on the Planar Pathway, and to the other Circle Archmagi I've made it a point for her acquaintances to be as least human as possible. I think it makes for a more fantastical world in the long run.

That being said, I still love my classic fantasy races. As humanoid as it may look, long ears and tusks rule.

Ambushed. April 4, 2011 Posted by Mookie
If you look at the background at the end of the second Interlude concerning the Beast you'll see that our resident tentacle abomination was, in fact, about to make his move.

For those of you who caught that a year ago, you've got a good eye... er, no pun intended.

Work continues on TWO THIEF OR NOT TWO THIEF: Dominic Deegan Volume 6, and I hope to have enough pages laid out by Anime St. Louis or Anime Boston so I can start taking pre-orders at those shows and online. I could technically start taking pre-orders now, but I'm not comfortable taking payments for something that isn't halfway done yet.

That's all from me for now.

Up and running again. April 1, 2011 Posted by Mookie
So as you can see, besides the unfortunate fate of M'ur'i the comic updated today. I got things up-and-running on a "backup" computer while mine is in the shop... getting the lamest repair ever.

It turns out my computer crash was caused by my graphics card going ka-put. Now anyone who's even moderately tech-savvy will tell you that buying a new graphics card and installing it yourself usually takes under ten minutes. I, on the other hand, decided to take advantage of the protection plan I paid for when I bought my computer and have sent it off to have someone install a new card for me, which should take up to two weeks.

It's ridiculous, I know. But dammit, I paid the cash for that "you guys will fix any problem I have for free" protection plan and I'm using it. Besides, anyone who knows me will tell you I have an uncanny streak of bad luck with electronics. I touch wires and they snap. So I'm keeping my hands far away from the inside of my computer.

Besides, at the most I'm losing two weeks worth of MMO gaming, which I can certainly live without.

That's all from me for now.
Rock on and have a nice weekend!
Nerds in... wait, what's wrong with my computer? March 31, 2011 Posted by Mookie
I was going to write a news post about Dominic and Luna's enthusiastic reaction and a paragraph or two about nerds in love, but instead I'm going to tell you that tomorrow's comic may be delayed because my computer has suddenly decided to stop working. No signal. No startup. No nothing.

So instead of making a comic for tomorrow I may be running around trying to find a solution to this problem so I can, well, get back to work. I was able to write this news post from another nearby computer in the meantime.

Wish me luck. And if there's no comic tomorrow it's because I spent today bashing my head against a wall.

Flux you, too. March 30, 2011 Posted by Mookie
Just a couple of quick bits of news in the wake of today's pun.

- Amon Amarth's new album, Surtur Rising, is a monster. I highly recommend it.

- New comic books hit the shelves today, so check out my Twitter feed for what I think of the new comics as I read them!

- Going to be adding a couple of new conventions to the list, so keep an eye out later this week to see where I'll be throughout 2011.

That's all from me for now.

HUH?! March 29, 2011 Posted by Mookie
Okay. We're done with this joke. I swear.

I have metal (and hearing loss) on the brain today because Amon Amarth's new album SURTUR RISING is coming out today and I plan on blasting this album so loud in my apartment that I will likely deafen the whole building.

I just received the unfortunate news that I've been put on the wait list for Otakon this year. So as with Katsucon, ICON and No Brand Con it'll be the first time in a couple of years that I'll be unable to attend a much-beloved convention, unless my spot on the wait list comes up. Cross your fingers.

That's all from me for now.

Gotcha. March 28, 2011 Posted by Mookie
While it would have been impressive and bad ass for Dominic to have truly harnessed the power of one of the most mysterious, awesome and destructive beings yet in the comic's known universe... well, I thought this was equally impressive, if not as destructive.

CONBUST was charming. A small convention with great, enthusiastic attendees and incredibly friendly staff who were willing to bend over backwards to treat me much better than I deserved. The numerous panels I did were not only well attended but filled with engaging questions, and my fellow panelists tolerated me on Saturday even as I suffered from numerous cases of foot-in-mouth disease.

I've missed doing conventions, and CONBUST was a great way to start off the 2011 convention season.

I can't wait for the next show.

All that's missing is a planar tumbleweed. March 25, 2011 Posted by Mookie
Is it evil that I'm ending the week with a psychoplanar standoff? Maybe a little, but I hope you're eager to come back on Monday to see what happens next.

I'll be at CONBUST today, tomorrow and Sunday so be sure to stop by and say "hello" if you're in the area! They have me on a lot of panels over the course of the weekend so if you're tickled by the idea of me talking more than usual you'll be in for a real treat.

That's all from me for now.
Rock on and I hope to see you at CONBUST!
Dominic Deegan: Destroyer for Hire? March 24, 2011 Posted by Mookie
For nearly nine years we've seen Dominic take many different forms on the psychoplanes. Colossal Triclops Dominic. Champion of Balance Dominic. Shirtless Dominic. Mighty Dominic Man. Dreamscape Interrogator Dominic. And now this... Otherworldly Planar slightly-Destroyer Dominic. Maybe he looks freaky. Maybe he looks silly. I think he looks neat but, as always, I'm biased.

There's a new Donation Wallpaper up for your approval! Check it out, and I hope you like it.

I'm headed down to CONBUST tomorrow, so be sure to stop by and say "hi!" The comic should update regularly both Friday and Monday, but I apologize ahead of time if there's crummy filler.

That's all from me for now.

Nom nom. March 23, 2011 Posted by Mookie
Is it just me, or does The Beast resemble a one-eyed version of the legendary Black Beast of AAARRRRGH! in the comic today? Or maybe it didn't, but now that I've mentioned it that's all you can see?

In any case, poor Dominic is looking rather chewed up at the moment.

It's Wednesday, which means new comic books hit the shelves. So if you're interested in what I'm reading and what I think check out my Twitter feed for any entries marked with #ComicBookDay. I'll try to keep spoilers and my nerd rage to a minimum.

That's all from me for now.

That's not a nice smile. March 22, 2011 Posted by Mookie
Of all the wicked, toothy grins that have appeared in the comic lately this one has to be my favorite, only barely beating out Karnak's father-eating grin. If I had fangs that prominent, or at all, I think I'd smile like that all the time. Minus the tentacles, ideally.

Don't forget that I'll be at CONBUST this weekend! They have me on lots of panels so I'll be talking more than usual, and anyone who's seen me at a convention knows that that's a lot of talking.

That's all from me for now.

Busted. March 21, 2011 Posted by Mookie
Looks like Dominic is in for another round with The Beast, and this time there will be no giant planar insects to help and/or deafen him.

This weekend I'll be going to CONBUST for the first time. It's the start of my "2011 convention tour" so I'm really looking forward to kicking things off. I've heard lots of great things from past attendees and guests about this convention so be sure to stop by and say "hi" if you're in the area!

Be sure to check my Convention Schedule down below to see all the places I'll be this year! A few more will be added once details are finalized and such, so be sure to keep an eye out (no pun intended)!

HRGP! March 18, 2011 Posted by Mookie
I guess those big elvish ears got the message after all.

And I hope not too many of you "HRGP"ed during your St. Patrick's Day celebrations.

I was going to have a new Donation Wallpaper for you fine folks today, but once I had it all ready to upload I took one last look at it and decided, to be frank, that it sucked. So I'm going to have another go at it this weekend and hopefully have a worthy wallpaper for your perusal and approval up by Monday.

Other than that, I hope you folks have a lovely weekend!

That's all from me for now.
