Unmasked and angry as hell! September 17, 2010 Posted by Mookie
That mask saw lots of use and I had lots of fun with it during The Shadow of Siegfried, but nothing stays the same around here for very long and it was time for a dramatic unmasking. Hellish slaughterfests look much better when teeth are bared and eyes are blazing, in my opinion. Not that I have much experience with infernal butchery outside of my pen and paper.

I should have a new Donation Wallpaper up by next week at some point.

I'm also working on a few experimental t-shirt designs that incorporate some of my amateur photography. More on that next week as well.

That's all from me for now.
Rock on and have a nice weekend!
A ROFLMAO-worthy comic book. September 16, 2010 Posted by Mookie
New comics came out yesterday, and while there were plenty of good ones that came out there's only one I really want to talk about today.

Brian Clevinger has been a good pal of mine for a while now and he's a damn good writer. The second issue of Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet came out yesterday I actually, literally rolled on the floor laughing my ass off. Fantastic dialogue, space adventure and intergalactic diners made me love this month's issue so much that I don't even want to talk about the other books I pulled off the shelves. If you're not reading this one, you're missing out on some high quality comic bookery.

That's all from me for now.
Rock on and geek out.
A hellish recap. September 15, 2010 Posted by Mookie
Karnak originally gave Siegfried those orders back at the end of The Shadow of Siegfried. Looks like he finally found what he was looking for.

I've been listening to lots of death metal and black metal as inspiration for this story. Here are two prime examples of my personal "soundtrack from Hell." This is the really violent, brutal metal so it's not for everyone... but it does the trick for me.

Dimmu Borgir - "Gateways"
Behemoth - "At the Left Hand ov God"

I could've picked more songs, but Behemoth and Dimmu Borgir are the only "hellish" bands I listen to. They're two fitting choices, I believe, since I think the driving brutality of Behemoth's sound is definitive of Siegfried while the sweeping melodic sound of Dimmu Borgir is appropriate for Karnak.

I hope that Nergal gets well soon and I want Shagrath's tentacle hat.

That's all from me for now.

He's baaaaaack. September 14, 2010 Posted by Mookie
It's been a while since we've seen this infernal knight, but I don't think he needs an introduction or links to past strips to remind you who he is.

Those of you who have expressed your desire to see him redeemed or saved will be sadly disappointed, I'm afraid. I love Siegfried in this role and I relish the opportunity to draw him in his stages of increasing power and hellish knighthood.

Those of you who want to see Siegfried kick a major amount of ass will hopefully enjoy this increasingly gory story.

Splat.

That's all from me for now.

Travel bleary. September 13, 2010 Posted by Mookie
I know this is crummy filler for a Monday update, but the train ride from Washington DC to Boston was over eight hours long and, after the memorable maiden voyage of INTERVENTION, this was all I had the strength to muster for filler... a photograph of the scenery racing by the window where I sat on the train for over eight hours.

Travel makes me bleary.

The comic resumes tomorrow.
That's all from me for now.

Time for an Intervention! September 10, 2010 Posted by Mookie
I'm at INTERVENTION starting today! Be sure to stop by and help make the maiden voyage of this awesome convention a memorable one! I'll be there doing my best to be, well, memorable!

There will likely be crummy filler doodles and/or convention photos in place of a comic on Monday. After that the splatter resumes for The Court of Karnak. Splat.

That's all from me for now.
Rock on, and see you at INTERVENTION!
Quickie linkies. September 9, 2010 Posted by Mookie
In case you needed a reminder as to who these two damned souls are, their fates were played out during THE WAR IN HELL.

Lady Loxo was an infernomancer whose death pulled Lord Siegfried into the infernal conflict.

Bulgak first appeared near the conclusion of THE BATTLE FOR BARTHIS and was featured throughout THE WAR IN HELL, and his relation to Thuen Gor was revealed during THE MARCH ACROSS MALTAK.

This story will feature more of their histories as it goes on. This was just a quick reminder for your convenience.

That's all from me for now.

A satanic splatterfest awaits. September 8, 2010 Posted by Mookie
Between yesterday's comic and today's the tone of this story has pretty much been set... lots of blood and bad behavior. I wouldn't expect anything redeeming coming out of this tale. This is going to be evil creatures doing evil things to one another. It's going to be a splatterfest.

Hee hee.

Did I mention that I'll be at INTERVENTION this weekend? I think I did. My memory is terrible so I'll likely be mentioning INTERVENTION all week before I leave.

Hee hee.

Did I mention Intervention? September 7, 2010 Posted by Mookie
My long end-of-summer weekend was amazing and I'll post some gorgeous pictures I managed to capture this week before I leave for INTERVENTION.

Did I mention that INTERVENTION is this weekend? I'll be there alongside a staggering number of amazingly talented webcomickers and we'll be doing everything we can to see that this convention's maiden voyage is everything it promises to be and more. Be sure to stop by and say "hi" if you're in the area!

Did I mention that INTERVENTION is this weekend? There may or may not be crummy filler doodles or convention photos next Monday in place of a comic. I'll keep you fine folks posted.

That's all from me for now.

Labor Day update... in HELL! September 6, 2010 Posted by Mookie
Happy Labor Day!
Hooray for long weekends!

And so begins the next story, The Court of Karnak.

This one is going to be dark and gory.
It's set in Hell, after all.

That's all from me for now.
Rock on... in hell!
The horror... the horror... September 3, 2010 Posted by Mookie
If there's one thing I like about the way today's elaborate, oversized comic came out it's the last line in the last panel. To me it sounds like the beginning or the ending of an H.P. Lovecraft story. I think it sounds appropriately ominous, but then again I'm biased because I wrote it.

And if you needed a quick reminder as to when this all happened, Celesto arrived back home through a breach in the planes near the conclusion to The War In Hell. It explains why he's looking out over the water... but not how his clothes got mended via flashback.
Oops.

I'm off on my Labor Day weekend today to celebrate the end of an eventful, memorable summer. Barring disaster or technical difficulties the comic should update normally on Monday.

That's all from me for now.
Rock on and have a great weekend!
Look who's (flash)back! September 1, 2010 Posted by Mookie
I'm torn.

On one hand, I'm sorry that the most recognizable form of "Lovecraftian" imagery for otherworldly beings of unimaginable horror is tentacles.

On the other hand, tentacles are really easy to draw. It's so much fun drawing squiggly lines all over the page. Whee! It's like I'm a little kid again! Squiggle squiggle squiggle! Ia! Ia! Cthulhu ftaghn!

And finally, since a lot of you fine folks have been telling me that you like the music I've been finding and recommending...

...I just discovered the joy of acapella metal!
(I had many Van Canto songs to choose from, but I have a soft spot in my heart for Manowar)

That's all from me for now.

A link to the horrific past. August 31, 2010 Posted by Mookie
For those of you who may have forgotten when Celesto was in the realm of the Beast, it happened when the Elemecca banished him there at the conclusion of the Storm of Souls. This week's interlude will shed more light on how he got out of that horrible place. It's a Hell of a tale.

Besides my excitement over INTERVENTION next weekend (which I know is going be five kinds of awesome) there really isn't much news to report today.

So I won't.

I like slow news days.

That's all from me for now.
Rock on.
He all nekkid. August 30, 2010 Posted by Mookie
So ends Walk the Wild Edge, but so begins another week-long interlude with more Beastly facts, once again featuring the mysterious (and still naked) Celesto Morgan. This week will lead us directly into the next Hellish story, which I hope you folks also enjoy.

I've added these "interludes" into the ARCHIVE for easier navigation. One day I swear I'll get to separating The March Across Maltak into smaller chapters. Honest!

I've also updated my list of Conventions I'll be attending, which you'll find to the right of the news box. INTERVENTION is right around the corner, so be sure to stop on by there if you can! Its maiden voyage promises to be spectacular so don't miss it!

That's all from me for now.
Rock on!
An End... not The End. August 27, 2010 Posted by Mookie
And so ends Laurie "Stunt" Mondane's time in the spotlight. I originally named this story Escape from the Wild Edge, but instead I think it'll be known as Walk the Wild Edge. It seems more appropriate to how the story turned out.

If things feel a tad "unfinished" or if you felt there were things left unanswered, I did that entirely on purpose. I could have stretched this story out for another week and given some very thorough exposition regarding why Stunt killed his own mother, why Vazkes (or "Vasquez" as I have been told some of you have been calling her) regards mongrelfolk so poorly, or anything else that feels like a loose end. I made this decision because Stunt's tale is more sweeping than a short story. This was just part of his much longer journey, and we will be seeing him again soon.

Regardless, I hope you folks enjoyed Walk the Wild Edge.

That's all from me for now.
Rock on and have a nice weekend!
