Today's comic has become one of my favorite Siegfried moments ever.
I've been listening to a lot of metal as background music while I draw this storyline... which isn't much different than any other day of the week or any other storyline. In any case, in the midst of all my metal listening I was reminded of a valuable lesson I learned from a band I don't even like very much.
Immortal. They're a pretty well-known death metal band but I don't like them very much. It's not that I think they're bad. They just aren't for me. Anyway, they take themselves very seriously and it has resulted in unintentionally funny music videos that have made them the subject of (admittedly funny) internet mockery.
Maybe they look funny in their videos. Maybe they take themselves a little too seriously. But in the face of criticism and mockery they haven't changed one thing about themselves, their music, or their attitude. They're doing whatever the hell they want and don't give a crap about what anyone else thinks, and I have to respect that. It's not a new or profound lesson, but one that's worth repeating every now and again.
When it comes to your creativity the only person you really have to answer to is yourself.
It was my respect for Immortal that inspired the final page of B.Y.O.B.
That's all from me for now.
Rock on and stay metal.
