A Weekend with the Boys

Last weekend I had my summer treat, which was to return to an old summer vacation spot with a number of my good friends and chill out for a couple of days. It felt all too brief, but it was a perfect end to my otherwise overbooked summer… not counting my return to DragonCon next weekend.

In the interest of seeming mysterious and interesting, here are some no-context summaries of how my weekend with my boys went:

  • When I am given clues in a narrative game I will follow them like a cartoon character floating along the aroma of a pie cooling on a windowsill.
  • I learned that it’s just my family that doesn’t enjoy my cooking. A room full of my dearest friends, none of whom are fellow vegans, will praise it and go back for seconds.
  • I am an excellent road trip DJ.
  • I am also an excellent kitchen DJ.
  • The “Hear Me Out” of an old friend was wilder than I could have possibly imagined.
  • There was a board game that struck me so completely that I knew I was going to buy it for myself and pester my family to play it with me. Thankfully they like it, too.
  • There is and there is not such a thing as too much hot sauce.

I am of two minds regarding my weekend. One part of me wished I could have stayed longer, as many folks there remained for an entire week. The other part of me thinks the weekend was just the right amount of time. Like I’ve said, this summer has felt overbooked, and to add another week-long commitment to the laundry list of destinations and responsibilities would have been overdoing it.

As it is, I’m going to be gone for another week for my trip to DragonCon, so a weekend was probably just right.
