Another Anime Con

The title of today’s blog isn’t a flippant reference to “yet another” anime convention. It’s literally the name of my last convention of 2025, and the story about my attendance as a first-time guest(!) is one of the many reasons why I still insist on doing conventions all these years later.

It happened over Anime Boston weekend.

I was doing my due diligence at my Artist Alley table when a young man approached, seemingly intrigued by my books. I pitched him the story of Snout’s very strange adventures, he grew more intrigued, and purchased a copy of Curious on a whim. I thanked him for giving my weirdest story a try and thought that would be the end of our interactions.

He came back a short time later, after having gone through most of the first volume of Snout’s adventure. I was very flattered when he said he was enjoying it so much he simply needed to get the rest of the books! After expressing my gratitude, he revealed he was at Anime Boston helping to promote Another Anime Con, and thought I would be a great addition to their own Artist Alley!

After contacting the staff responsible for guest invitations, they said they’d love to have me! And so here I am, getting ready for my first AAC this weekend!

I don’t get many guest invitations for conventions any more. After twenty years I’m not as in-demand as I used to be, as is the nature of things. Younger, fresher artists are having their time in the spotlight and I’m happy to still be going to shows, whether I’m invited or filling out applications. So for AAC to extend an invitation, it was not only very flattering but it helped me feel a little young again.

So if you’d like to see me at my last convention of 2025, and prove to AAC that it was a good idea to put me in their Artist Alley, stop by and say hello!
