Traveling to-and-from O-Con Expo this past weekend wasn’t as stressful as I thought it was going to be, but it was certainly tiring. My son and I arrived home late last night thanks to a delay with our connecting flight home. Combined with coming home a full day later than I usually like to on convention weekends, we were away from home for a while and one day was spent doing nothing but traveling.
I only have today and tomorrow to spend at home before I have to turn around and head out to ConnectiCon this weekend.
Don’t get me wrong, I am beyond excited for ConnectiCon. Despite not living in Connecticut I consider it my “home town show,” given the history of my involvement with the convention, all it did for webcomics back in the day, that I met my wife thanks to it, and that I’ve been hosting the Cosplay Death Match, which has become its signature event. ConnectiCon is my home away from home.
I’m also coming off a long travel weekend with one day in-between spent traveling, and I leave the day after tomorrow.
I’m also being dramatic.
I’m simply tired as I sit here writing this. Two days of relative rest and the promise of my home town show on the horizon will reinvigorate me. And thanks to my updated posting schedule of taking a week off between storylines, I have these two remaining days to myself, thanks to the buffer of updates I provide ahead of time for my Patreon supporters.
Still, two shows in two weekends is a young man’s schedule and I’m not a young man any more. It’s not so much that I’m physically drained and worried about my energy, it’s that I don’t have the patience for dealing with that much traveling. It’s not so much that my body is breaking down and more that my tolerance is. So while I probably won’t be scheduling two shows in a row for the foreseeable future, ConnectiCon will always come first.
I hope to see you folks there this weekend!
