Anniversary and Halloween

Today, October 30th, falls between two very special days for me. The first special day is tomorrow, Halloween! The special day that comes before it was my wedding anniversary. The two days are importantly intertwined.

My wife and I love Halloween for all the obvious reasons. We’re more fans of the playfully spooky side of Halloween than the truly frightening side, thanks to my wife and son’s sensibilities. I like a good scare, but I don’t like enjoying it all by myself. And we try to do family costumes for Halloween as well! A few years ago we were elements from the periodic table. This year we’re… well, I’ll let you know after the big night.

We love Halloween so much we even had a Halloween-themed wedding! We couldn’t have it on Halloween itself because the year we were married it fell on a weekday, so the 29th was close enough and on a weekend. It was a very memorable celebration for all the right reasons, especially because none of my wife’s bridesmaids had to wear uncomfortable or unsightly dresses.

So the 30th has become an in-between day for the celebration of my commitment to my wife and our favorite holiday. Yesterday we reminded each other how much we love and care for one another. Tomorrow we will be reminded why we love Halloween so much.

Happy Halloween!
