This is the last week of strips for this chapter, Long Story Short. Next week is the normal week-long break between chapters before the next one starts up. So I feel it’s the perfect time to announce that next week I’m planning to launch a Kickstarter campaign to fund the printing of the first Dwarves of Kadaz story!
A smart man would’ve had a pre-launch page ready to link, but the huge snowstorm and a snow day from school kept me rather distracted these past couple of days.
So next Monday, when the chapter cover would normally be posted, a front-page announcement for the Kickstarter campaign will post in its place! The chapter cover will post instead on that Friday, much like when I announced the holiday sale before Long Story Short began.
I confess that it feels like a weird time to be doing self-promotion, what with the news in the United States being what it is. But as I saw someone post on Bluesky, newspapers always have a comics section so even if all the news is terrible there’s something to look forward to, and comics are the proverbial “chocolate coating that helps you swallow difficult pills.”
It’s also a very relevant story, as it’s the tale of a civil rights uprising against a xenophobic patriarchy. It’s one that I’m proud of, a theme that I firmly believe in, and perhaps helps to offer some hope when all the bad news of the world attempts to smother you with hopelessness.
I look forward to sharing another book with you fine folks.
