Drawtober 2026 So Far

Every October I participate in a daily art posting, originally referred to as “Inktober” but after a whole bit of internet drama it’s now referred to as… well… no one can settle on one thing so I go with “Drawtober.” It’s not as good a play on October, but it gets the point across and it still ends in “-tober.”

Like every year, I’m excited to do it because I love celebrating October for all sorts of reasons; the beginning of autumn, the spooky season leading up to Halloween, and so on. Adding daily art to what is already one of my favorite months is a bonus. But, like every year, despite my excitement I always feel like I get off to a rough start. Not in terms of quality, but in terms of motivation and inspiration.

But once I get into the groove, inspiration and motivation come more easily. 2026 has been no different. While I think all of my daily art posts have been good, the process of getting there was rocky in that first week. Now that we’re later into October and I’ve had a few weeks of daily posts, I feel like I’m deep in that groove and it’ll be smooth sailing until Halloween.

I know I’m doing it for the love of it because, honestly, it doesn’t get a lot of reactions or (ugh) “engagement” on the various social medias. But I don’t care about that when it comes to Drawtober. I’m not looking to go viral, nor am I looking to commercialize these daily drawings. This is an exercise for me, and if no more than a few other folks get a kick out of my random daily posts, then I hope it inspires them to maybe pick up a pencil and try it out for themselves.

Drawtober continues today, and all throughout October! The easiest place you can see what I’ve done so far is my Bluesky feed!
