Down To DragonCon

If you’re reading this (and I hope you are) I’ve begun my annual trek down the east coast to DragonCon, where I’ll be exhibiting all weekend and into Monday!

I’ve often spoke about the delight that is DragonCon weekend, but it comes with a price. I’m not talking a financial price (though it’s certainly there) but rather the cost in time.

I live up in Massachusetts and DragonCon takes place in Georgia. That means I have to travel much of the length of the east coast to get down there. I’ve come up with money-saving ways to do so over the years, but even when you find the cheapest train and/or flight the cost in time doesn’t change.

I’m away from home for almost a full week, and for a notorious homebody like myself that’s a strain.

The trip, thankfully, has become a tradition for Garth and me. Yesterday I made the long journey via train (i.e. the cheapest option) eight hours down to him. Today, barring unforeseen problems, we are driving the ten hours to Atlanta. We’ll do the same thing back again on Monday night, though I’ll be flying back to MA after the ten hour overnight drive.

I love my annual road trip with Garth, and I adore my lengthy time at DragonCon, but I always feel the strain in the cost in time this weekend has me spending.
