Halloween Music

Music plays a huge role in our household and Halloween a top-tier holiday for our family, so it stands to reason that I’d search for music appropriate for the spooky season. The only problem with that is that it’s not a huge industry or tradition like Christmas music, so pickings can be thin… or in some cases, poor excuses for Halloween-appropriate music. “Zombie” by The Cranberries is not a song for Halloween despite being named after a classic monster.

So here’s our house’s Halloween playlist! It’s not a huge list for the reasons listed above, but I think it’s nicely curated. Give them a listen if you’re looking for new songs to add to your own Halloween soundtrack! In the case of classical music I’m only listing the composers, as there are many performances that might appeal to different ears, so find the one that suits you best!

“Monster Mash” by Bobby “Boris” Pickett & The Crypt-Kickers
“This Is Halloween” by The Citizens of Halloween
“Ghostbusters” by Ray Parker Junior
“Spooky, Scary Skeletons” by Andrew Gold
“Somebody’s Watching Me” by Rockwell
“Thriller” by Michael Jackson
“Season of the Witch” by Donovan
“Werewolves of London” by Warren Zevon
“I Put A Spell On You” by Screamin’ Jay Hawkins
“Dragula” by Rob Zombie
“Living Dead Girl” by Rob Zombie
“Blood, Milk and Sky” by White Zombie
“Toccata and Fugue in D Minor” by J.S. Bach
“Danse Macabre, Op. 40” by Camille Saint-Saens
“Dance Macabre” by Ghost
“Pet Sematary” by The Ramones
“Vampire Hunters” by Wojciech Kilar
“Witches Don’t Fall In Love” by Me & That Man
“Halloween Theme” by John Carpenter
“Hell” by Squirrel Nut Zippers

And that’s what we play in our house! I hope you find something you like if you’re looking for music to spook up your season! But honestly, if you want the real good stuff you just need to look at any music streaming service’s Kids Halloween section. The playlists there are all filled to the brim with songs literally about monsters and trick-or-treating and Halloween.
