My 2022 Winter Break, and Moving Forward!

It’s that time of year again! Well, it’s the last time of this year. 2022 is coming to a close and The Legacy of Dominic Deegan is well into its third year. As always, I take a week-long break between Christmas and New Year’s Day to recharge, reflect, and honestly just be lazy for a few days… well, not terribly lazy, as it falls to me to entertain an eight-year-old who’s off from school.

I decided to change things up a bit here after I caught Covid-19 back in September, where I chose to hit the gas in regards to moving the overarching story of The Legacy forward and do shorter, less slow-paced chapters. I think I was successful in that in the closing months of 2022, and as 2023 comes around the corner there’s another change I want to make around here, one that will benefit me and the site greatly. I want to return to regularly blogging.

I was constantly blogging alongside the weekdaily comic updates during the Oracle for Hire years, and during my time on STAR POWER I got into the habit of blogging there on the days the comic didn’t update. It was a great exercise for me and I had grand plans to continue doing so here when The Legacy started, but real life and a pandemic got in the way and it never happened. But now I’m feeling the itch to begin regularly blogging again, and I think it’s time to scratch it.

And frankly, it’s due largely in part to social media sites becoming even more inhospitable than ever. With the few largest sites being owned by the few worst people, I feel like it’s time to start retreating from those places and return to my roots, which was cultivating a living, independent website whose content wasn’t dictated by the whims of corporations or billionaire man-babies. Will folks actually read these regular blogs here and follow me back to my own site? I certainly hope so. But if my career suffers because I’m pulling away from terrible social media sites, so be it. I’ll adapt some other way if need be. I haven’t been in this game twenty years for nothing.

In any case, thank you all for a wonderful 2022. I’m forever grateful for you, my incredible readers, for sticking with me as long as you have. I hope 2023 gives you all the happiness and love you deserve.
